THE CHALLENGE

“Need a tank, plant room isn’t open plan and columns are in the way?”

The client’s project was to install a 55m3 sprinkler system as part of the base build to serve the commercial units and refuse yard which is part of a new development located in Battersea, London.

Unfortunately not all plant rooms are built as an open-plan arrangement, and in this particular project we were asked to provide a solution to create an irregular shaped sprinkler tank to be able to wrap around two columns, avoid obstacles and work with curved plant room walls.  In addition to this, the sprinkler tank had to meet a minimum effective capacity and to ensure regulations in reference to confined space for our team & future maintenance teams are being adhered to and implemented.

TRICEL SOLUTION

Our totally internally flanged sectional tank range allows us to create irregular shaped tanks and provide an ideal solution.  Due to the complexities of the tank proposed we decided it would be essential to meet with the client on-site to map out and ensure the sprinkler tank would fit in the space available.

Following this meeting our team were able to assist with the enquiry and produce a technical design that would work around the obstacles highlighted to us, and agreed a follow up site visit.  In addition, following our technical advice we included 6 additional safety tank access points to assist initial assembly and for future maintenance & access.

Our logistics team organised a tail lift truck from the courier to deliver direct to Battersea, London. The installation of the cold water storage tank from delivery, site induction and installation, took the team 9 working days to complete.

Challenge solved, the tank looks great, complies with health and safety guidelines and is British standards approved.

Client feedback

B & C Fire commented:

“Dewey Waters completed the project in line with the programme of works even through the difficult period we were faced with at the start of COVID-19. We did encounter a few problems with the tank after the installation was completed. We had a few minor leaks. However, Dewey Waters responded in a timely manner to get back to site and rectify the problems.

Overall Dewey Waters provide an exceptional service”.
