Apartment Block Storage Tank | Parmin Close Retirement Village is set to be completed by spring of 2018, the complex is situated on the outskirts of Taunton and will offer 66 retirement apartments. This new development will offer residents an in-house care team, on-site restaurant, communal lounge and gardens a laundrette and many more facilities to enhance the residents daily living.

Parmin Close is an ideal location for the development, as it is situated on the outskirts of Taunton which offer picturesque country living just a short distance from all the amenities the town centre has to offer.

In addition to the construction of the retirement village, plans are underway for 12 additional wheelchair accessible housing apartments to be available, complete with communal landscaped gardens and indoor spaces.

Our client contacted our technical sales team for pricing on a water storage tank to hold a nominal capacity of 7,090 litres of water. This project required a tank that would make the most of the space available at the location for the tank installation was small and narrow.

Apartment Block Storage Tank | Tricels production team identified the ideal solution, a water Tank from our own range, a totally internally flanged GRP tank (TIF). This is the ideal solution when space is limited and a large capacity tank is required.

A totally internally flanged tank is designed and manufactured with internal flanges and fasteners all fitted on the inside of the tank, this enables the tank to be built from the inside which optimises space to a maximum, minimising the space required outside of the tank, our construction team will build from the inside.

Due to the location of the tank and the water capacity requirements, it was a necessity for the tank to be built up against three walls (50mm clearance required) utilising the space available to allow for maximum water storage. Water supply is required on a continuous basis to the apartments, our recommendations were to fit the tank with a tank partition which allows one-half to be drained down for cleaning and maintenance whilst the other half is still operational. This ensures a constant supply of water is available to the retirement village.

This is a good example of when a TIF tank is the perfect solution, the before and after photos shows how our manufacturing and site crews have utilised all the space available in order to maximise storage capacity for our client.


The final result was the successful installation of the retirement village and the water storage tank. The TIF tank solution maximized storage capacity within the confined space against three walls. The project was completed in five weeks, adhering to the operational timelines of the site. The before-and-after photos showcased the effective utilisation of space for optimal storage capacity.
