THE CHALLENGE
installation of four GRP hot press sectional water tanks
The construction of the ‘Walkie Talkie’ building, officially known as 20 Fenchurch Street, posed a range of unique challenges due to its distinctive design. With a height of 160 meters and 34 storeys, this skyscraper stood as one of London’s tallest structures, characterized by its top-heavy architecture. The project presented challenges in terms of its unconventional design and significant height, demanding innovative solutions for efficient water storage and distribution.
TRICEL SOLUTION
Our team provided a comprehensive solution that encompassed the supply, delivery, offloading, positioning, and installation of four GRP hot press sectional water tanks. Additionally, the solution included the installation of levelling steels, intricate connections, ladders, and guardrails. These measures were meticulously planned to ensure the effective integration of water storage facilities within the unique architecture of the skyscraper.
THE FINAL RESULT
The result was the successful installation of four GRP hot press sectional water tanks. The diverse tank dimensions and capacities (Tank 1: 162,000 Litres, Tank 2: 126,000 Litres, Tank 3 and 4: 8,000 and 6,000 Litres respectively) allowed for meeting various water demands throughout the building. Tricels contribution to the water storage infrastructure of the ‘Walkie Talkie’ building added to the functionality of this iconic London landmark.
