What is an Elvaro water pressure booster set?
An Elvaro water pressure booster set is a combined GRP cold water storage tank and variable speed pump set manufactured by Tricel Water UK. It is designed to solve low or inconsistent mains water pressure by storing water in an insulated GRP tank and boosting it to a constant set pressure using variable speed drives (VSDs). The VSDs automatically adjust pump speed to match demand — ramping up during peak draw and cycling off when demand ceases — eliminating water hammer, reducing energy consumption and extending pipework life. The Elvaro range is available in two configurations: the Elvaro B (insulated GRP tank mounted on a steel frame above the pump set, with VSDs beneath the tank) and the Elvaro T (submersible pumps inside the tank with VSDs mounted on top, maximising storage in minimum footprint). The Elvaro T delivers a flow range of 1.0 to 5.0 litres per second and a pressure range of 2.0 to 6.0 bar, with nominal tank capacities from 500 to 2,250 litres. The tank section carries WRAS approval. Standard Cat 4 (Type AF) air gap is fitted as standard; Cat 5 (Type AB) air gap is available on larger Elvaro T tanks. The system operates from a standard factory configuration and is ready to deliver constant water pressure on start-up.

Overview
What Is the Elvaro Range?
The Elvaro range is Tricel’s latest generation of intelligent water pressure booster systems. Each Elvaro unit combines a WRAS-approved GRP cold water storage tank with a variable speed pump set in a single, compact, factory-configured product.
Low or inconsistent mains water pressure is a common problem in high-rise residential buildings, commercial properties on poor mains supplies, rural sites, and buildings with high simultaneous demand. The Elvaro resolves this by storing mains water in the GRP tank and boosting it to the required pressure on demand via the variable speed pump set. The system runs continuously from a user-set pressure target, adjusting pump speed automatically as demand varies throughout the day.
The range is designed for both new-build and replacement installations. Smaller Elvaro T units can pass through standard doorways without disassembly, making direct replacement of older fixed-speed booster sets straightforward on constrained sites.
WRAS approval status: The GRP tank section of the Elvaro carries WRAS approval. Full WRAS approval of the pump set is currently in process. Confirm documentation requirements at the time of order.
How the Elvaro solves water pressure problems
Storage → boost → constant pressure
- Mains water fills the insulated GRP tank via the float valve (Cat 4 or Cat 5 air gap)
- When an outlet opens, the pressure in the distribution system drops below the set point
- The VSD senses the pressure drop and ramps up the pump to restore pressure
- When demand drops, the VSD ramps the pump down; when demand ceases, the pump stops
- Constant pressure is maintained regardless of demand fluctuation — no water hammer

Variable Speed Drive Advantage
Why Variable Speed Drives Make the Difference
Every Elvaro unit uses variable speed drives (VSDs) to control pump speed in direct proportion to demand. This is the defining technical characteristic of the range — and the reason Elvaro outperforms conventional fixed-speed booster sets on four measures simultaneously.
No water hammer
Pumps ramp, not switch
Fixed-speed pumps start and stop abruptly, sending a pressure shockwave through the pipework. VSDs ramp the pump speed up and down gradually — the shockwave never forms. Pipework lasts longer. Fittings and valves are protected.
Energy savings
Power matched to demand
A fixed-speed pump draws full power regardless of demand. A VSD-controlled pump draws only the power required for the actual load. During periods of low demand — night-time, weekends, low-occupancy phases — energy consumption drops in proportion to pump speed.
Quieter operation
Lower speed, lower noise
Because the pumps run at only the speed the system requires, noise levels are lower than equivalent fixed-speed units — particularly relevant for Elvaro units installed in residential buildings, hotels, healthcare facilities and anywhere noise is a concern.
Constant pressure delivery
Set point maintained automatically
The VSD continuously monitors system pressure and adjusts pump speed to hold the set point regardless of how many outlets are open. One shower or twenty — the pressure remains consistent. No pressure swings, no cold spots in the hot water system.

The Elvaro Ranges
Elvaro B and Elvaro T — Which Is Right for Your Project?
Both ranges use the same variable speed drive technology and deliver the same performance advantages. The difference is in how the tank and pump set are physically arranged — which determines which is better suited to a specific installation.
Tank above pump set
Elvaro B
GRP tank mounted on a steel frame above the variable speed pump set. Ideal where more tank capacity is required without increasing the floor footprint.
How it works
The insulated GRP storage tank sits on a steel frame, elevated above the pump set below. Variable speed drives are mounted beneath the tank, controlling the pumps. Water is drawn from the tank by the pump set and boosted to the required system pressure. Maintenance can be carried out on the pump set without shutting down the water supply.

Submersibles inside tank
Elvaro T
Submersible pumps inside the GRP tank with VSDs on top. Maximises water storage in the smallest possible footprint. Smaller units fit through standard doorways.
How it works
Submersible stainless steel pumps sit inside the GRP storage tank itself. The water that surrounds the pumps counts towards the storage volume — the pump set occupies no additional floor space outside the tank. VSDs are mounted on top of the tank, keeping the combined unit footprint as small as possible. Available in single, twin and triple pump configurations.

04
Elvaro B Range
Elvaro B — Tank Above Pump Set
The Elvaro B is designed for installations where increased cold water storage capacity is required but the available floor footprint cannot be extended. By mounting the insulated GRP tank on a structural steel frame above the pump set, the Elvaro B achieves greater storage volume within the same footprint a standard booster set would occupy alongside a separate tank.
The VSDs and control system are mounted beneath the tank, facing forward for easy access. The pump set is accessible for maintenance, inspection and replacement without interrupting the water supply from the tank above — a practical advantage for occupied buildings and 24-hour facilities.
The Elvaro B comes in a standard factory configuration with all controls pre-set. On start-up, the system automatically begins delivering constant pressure to the set point — no commissioning of the VSD control logic is required before the system is operational.

Elvaro T Range
Elvaro T — Submersible Pumps Inside the Tank
The Elvaro T is designed to maximise cold water storage within the smallest possible footprint. Rather than placing the pump set alongside or beneath the tank, the Elvaro T uses submersible pumps positioned inside the tank body itself. The water stored in the tank cools and surrounds the pumps — and every litre of stored water is usable. The pump set occupies no additional floor space outside the tank.
VSDs are mounted on top of the tank, keeping the unit self-contained in plan. Smaller Elvaro T units are dimensioned to pass through standard doorways without disassembly — making direct replacement of an older booster set practical even in plant rooms that cannot be accessed by fork-lift or large equipment.

FAQs
Elvaro Booster Set FAQs
Common questions from engineers, installers and facilities managers.
What is an Elvaro water pressure booster set?
An Elvaro water pressure booster set is a combined GRP cold water storage tank and variable speed pump set manufactured by Tricel Water UK. It solves low or inconsistent mains water pressure by storing water in an insulated GRP tank and boosting it to a constant set pressure using variable speed drives. The system automatically adjusts pump speed to match demand, eliminating water hammer, reducing energy consumption and maintaining constant pressure. Available in Elvaro B (tank on steel frame above pump set) and Elvaro T (submersible pumps inside tank, VSDs on top) configurations.
What is the difference between the Elvaro B and Elvaro T?
The Elvaro T has submersible pumps inside the GRP tank with VSDs mounted on top. This maximises water storage in the smallest footprint and suits installations where floor space is limited. Smaller T units can pass through standard doorways. The Elvaro B has the GRP tank mounted on a steel frame above the pump set, with VSDs beneath. This allows more tank capacity in the same footprint as a conventional tank-beside-pump-set installation, and enables maintenance of the pump set without shutting down the water supply.
What does VSD stand for and why is it important?
VSD stands for Variable Speed Drive. It controls pump speed in proportion to water demand rather than running at a fixed speed. VSDs eliminate water hammer (the pressure shock from abrupt pump starts/stops), extend pipework life, reduce energy consumption during low-demand periods and maintain constant pressure regardless of how many outlets are open. The Elvaro uses VSDs on both the B and T ranges.
What flow and pressure does the Elvaro T deliver?
The Elvaro T range delivers a flow range of 1.0 to 5.0 litres per second and a pressure range of 2.0 to 6.0 bar. Submersible pumps are constructed from AISI 304 stainless steel. Available in single, twin and triple pump configurations. Confirm the specific duty point with Tricel at enquiry stage.
What tank capacity is available in the Elvaro T?
The Elvaro T is available from 500 to 2,250 litres nominal capacity. The tank is insulated with 25mm insulation and has a sealed lid. Standard Cat 4 (Type AF) air gap is fitted as standard; Cat 5 (Type AB) air gap is available on larger tanks for applications requiring fluid category 5 backflow protection. Use the Elvaro Tank Builder calculator to identify the appropriate size.
Can an Elvaro booster set fit through a standard doorway?
Yes. Smaller units in the Elvaro T range can pass through standard doorways without disassembly. This makes them practical for direct replacement of older booster sets in plant rooms with limited access. Confirm the specific unit dimensions for the required capacity and pump configuration with Tricel at enquiry stage.
What information is needed to specify an Elvaro?
Required information includes: required flow rate (L/s) and system pressure (bar) at the duty point; incoming mains supply pressure and flow; required cold water storage capacity; preferred Elvaro range (B or T) if known; pump configuration (single, twin, triple); duty/standby or duty/assist requirement; installation location; available footprint; power supply; and air gap category (Cat 4 or Cat 5). Use the Elvaro Tank Builder to assist with sizing before contacting Tricel on +44 (0)1934 421 499 or websales@tricelwater.co.uk.
